It's not fair

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

Dear God,

It's not a plausible argument that just because sin entered the

human race that we should suffer for its consequences.

It's not a good excuse, Lord, that by one man, we should all

suffer a painful existence on Earth.

I didn't elect to be here. I didn't choose to sin.

It's not fair!

My heart is overwhelmed within me.

Tell me, Lord, educate me.

Do you really care?

Show me your love. Show me your mercy.

My heart aches for all the pain that surrounds me

The pain of sad and forlorn faces

The pain of sick and tired bodies

The pain of lost and lonely hearts

The pain of struggle and strife

How may I bring relief to these bodies?

How may I bring solace to the lonely?

How may I ease the tension that fills the air?

My precious child:

The answer is not in you. It is in Me.

In casting myself as man, I walked the Earth.

And suffered as you do. Yet without compromise.

I brought along justice. I will not short-change you.

I have given it, and given 6,000 reminders too:

2,000 Christmases. 2,000 Good Fridays. 2,000 Easters.

Yes, Lord, I now see your point.

I concede that you tried to make up

And you more than made up by your life of rejection and suffering, and painful death.

By nailing the world's sin on the cross with you,

You demonstrated that you care... and that you have the ability to bear

Beyond what I can comprehend.

And that very power that frees your dead body from death

Tells me that I and billion others have hope today, tomorrow and forever.

I now acquiesce to the fact of the matter:

That you came to save me from all the gloom and doom.

You didn't just condescend -- you deliberately gave of yourself

To say that you mean it -- that you prize the relationship that was once spotless,

And that you really want to save it ... if I will accept that proposal.

"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:10
